Basil's Battery Adventures

This is a conversation I had with a friend of mine, made me smile so I thought I would post it:

Basil Murphy (Yahoo!)
6:53 - Okay fuck... my smoke detector is doing a single beep, every
~1-2 minutes. Do you know what that means?

Filbar (Yahoo!)
6:53 - Yeah, the battery is low, you need to replace it.

Basil Murphy (Yahoo!)
6:54 - Fuck. They usually take the friggin square batteries I think.

Filbar (Yahoo!)
6:54 - haha, this conversation is almost as funny as the "I know it
says 40W, but how much can I really put it"
6:55 - You know you really should upgrade to a moden fire alarm, those
old ones are toxic and radioactive.

At this time I was trying to taunt him into worrying about his smoke detector being radioactive (the more common types use americium to detect smoke). As you can see my attempt was futile because he was still stuck on the 'square' batteries.

Basil Murphy (Yahoo!)
6:55 - Oh come on, WHO keeps square batteries around anymore?
6:55 - okay, maybe you with the robotics and shit... but no normal
toys or shit uses them anymore

Filbar (Yahoo!)
6:55 - Square ones? Just about any convenience store.... I believe
they call them 9-volts thought.

Basil Murphy (Yahoo!)
6:55 - No, I mean who actually uses them and keeps them around the home?

Filbar (Yahoo!)
6:55 - Um, everyone with a firealarm?

Basil Murphy (Yahoo!)
6:56 - smartass

Made me smile, hope it does the same for you. Be sure to checkout http://www.nonessential.org for Bas's website, be sure to leave comments about the exceptionally cool theme.
