PHP Snippet: Bring Selected Tab Forward
When I first published my photoshop tutorial for creating quick filefolder style tab buttons, many people asked how I always made the selected tab appear to be in front of the others.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to accomplish this with straight html or css. The reason this is complex is because you are not only altering the selected tab, but the tabs on either side as well. You might be able to get away with this if you ditch the highlighting that I used and just have the tab outline.

So having an iPod is cool and having a ride is cool. Now it is supremely cool if they work well together. My stipulations here are:
- Seemless audio integration with the radio. I don't care if the controls on the deck control the iPod

Convert Audible Files to mp3
Many people have been asking for the old version of Goldwave as an alternative for converting audible files. You can easily find this file by doing a Google search for gwave506.exe will turn up some download sites that still have 5.06 mirrored.
Audible is a great service and they have a nice format that is flexible, but sometimes it just isn't flexible enough. I have an mp3 player in my truck that I wanted to use, doesn't support .aa or drm for that matter. I certainly didn't want to burn them to however many cd's it would take, so I started scouring the web for ways to convert this file to a usable format.
Most of the sites I found recommended playing the book and recording the stream, then compress that to mp3. This is a silly idea and is wholely uesless to me, work though it may. I did, however, find instructions to convert .aa using dbpoweramp on a forum that I can no longer find. To preserve these instructions I will post them here as well.

To get started open photoshop and a new blank document. It is a good idea to make the document bigger than you need, you can always shrink images but you can't always enlarge them. Work big then scale down.

DIY Superbright led bike headlights
These lights were made almost two years ago, but I thought I would share them with the DIY community anyways. They are really, really bright. They have been given various names such as "The Face of God" lights etc; I also find that cars give me an unusually large amount of respect on the road at night when running with these lights (and two taillights purchased from http://www.mec.ca set in non-flash mode), probably because they are wondering what the heck I am. I have never been given so much space on the road as when I am running at night with these lights on.
